A beehive works because all of the members respect the rules and have a common goal. They work together to serve one another and to keep the hive moving forward. The environment seems chaotic. But, the work is being done efficiently through connection, respect and shared responsibility. The hive survives because it's a hive... with a system of engaged, hardworking participants.
The single most important thing we can do to move ourselves forward, to lead change, to do meaningful work, is to choose to be around likeminded people. Our chances of achieving the change we seek to make increases dramatically if we expose ourselves to people who are on a similar journey, learning, teaching, leading, pioneering, crafting and caring enough to change something.
Where might we find these people? Where are they doing, talking about and sharing their work? Where are they doing their research? Where are they making the connections with people like us? How can we find them?
A better option might be to make our own place...to build our own hive, specifically for those which will help us level up, push us to think differently and to make better things. It doesn't need to be the next LinkedIn (it could be). It merely needs to connect a few. Every group starts small. It starts with the one who chooses.
We need more hives of focused people on shared journeys leading meaningful change. And we need order, respect and responsibility. Someone needs to lead...perhaps it should be you.
