Testimonials from Spring, 2020
I am humbled by this experience. It taught me to step back, ask for feedback, reevaluate how I might sound to others, and make deep connections with people I respect.
This experience made me pause and reflect. I reflected on past experiences, current situations, different points of view and the value I assign to each. It helped me unearth some practices I'd abandoned and reassess some I thought were important. I am most thankful for what I've learned about the people in the group and the connections that have been strengthened through the small groups and the honest sharing in the prompts.
This experience has taught me to be more honest but in a thoughtful way. Thoughtful by slowing down, and considering where other people are coming from. It's also created connections that I'll value for a long time to come.
This experience has changed me and taught me to listen more and to continue to have deeper conversations with people. Throughout this process I have learned so much from everything both personally and professionally.
This experience has taught me to enter situations with a more open mind. The creativity witnessed here was thoroughly up-lifting.
We all gained a valuable resource in connection with others on how to problem solve, discuss issues, and inspire one another to complete challenging or inordinate tasks. I learned a lot about the sometimes untapped potential in others that an experience like this brings to the forefront.
I was humbled by this process. It helped me to realize the vast amounts of talent and efforts of the entire team. It’s nice to not feel so overwhelmed and able to relinquish. I have built a firm trust in those around me.
FAQ
Below are answers to some of the most important questions about the workshop and our process. Please let us know if you have a question we haven’t addressed. We’ll happily try to answer it.
Who’s It For?
It’s for someone who is looking to develop the skills of engaging with others, seeing them, understanding them and then leading them to make change happen...to make things better.
What’s It For?
The workshop will help you create change, both for yourself and those you seek to serve. It will help you develop the habits essential to effective leadership. These include empathy, seeing the others, enrolling people to go with you, clearly defining where it is you seek to go and changing your mind.
How much does it cost?
Tuition varies and is dependent on the curriculum and groups being served. It typically ranges between $125-$350 per student.
Is tuition refundable if I need to cancel?
Tuition is refundable on a sliding scale. As we get closer to the start date, the refundable portion decreases because it’s more unlikely we can find someone to replace you. We happily refund 100% up to 90 days prior to the start date and 50% up to 30 days before we begin. Cancellations within 30 days are non-refundable. However, 100% of any non-refundable portion can be applied to a future workshop or transferred to someone else.
Are there video lectures?
Yes, there are videos. They’re relatively short. And they serve as challenge prompts to kickstart the group-based, skillbuilding projects.
How long is the workshop?
There are ten project prompts with two released each week. So, the workshop is designed to be completed in five weeks.
How much time will it take?
While individual mileage may vary, students typically spend between 5 and 10 hours per week on the workshop.
What is the weekly schedule?
Prompts are released on Sundays. Groups meet twice weekly to collaborate on the prompts which are due on Tuesday and Friday. Students give each other feedback for each prompt.
What sort of technology is involved? Do I need a computer?
The workshop works best when using a PC as there is a fair amount of writing involved. Additionally, we use the Zoom platform to collaborate on projects. So, a camera and headphones or earbuds are essential.
Is Michael leading the workshop?
Michael leads the prompts through recorded videos and serves the students as one of the coaches offering feedback and encouragement throughout the workshop.
How many students are in each session?
The workshop groups vary in size and range between 15-50 students. We keep it intentionally small to provide everyone the opportunity to collaborate and practice with as many of their fellow workshop mates as possible. And, smaller groups allow students more one-on-one time with coaches to better develop the habits we want them to form.
Are there any tests or exams?
No tests. No grades. The goal is not to achieve an artificial metric giving you a potentially false sense of accomplishment. The goal is to be vulnerable enough to receive constructive feedback...and to possibly change your mind. There’s no test available to measure this...just the work.
Is there a certificate or diploma?
There is no diploma. But, you will receive a token of achievement at the end.
Will my company reimburse me for the cost of the workshop?
Most companies have some sort of educational reimbursement program. Or, they certainly should consider it. We recommend you review the workshop, the process and your desire to level up with your supervisor in hopes of being reimbursed at least partially for completion. And, if a certificate is required, we will gladly supply one.
